By embracing a minimalist lifestyle, you can live more with less and focus on what truly matters.
Invest in quality: Instead of buying cheap items that will need to be replaced, invest in high-quality items that will last longer.

When it comes to prefab homes, investing in quality means choosing materials and construction
methods that are durable and long-lasting. Here are some examples of prefab homes that would be a good investment in quality:

Modular homes: Modular homes are constructed off-site in a factory, and then assembled on-site. They are built with high-quality materials and are designed to last for many years.
Panelized homes: Panelized homes are similar to modular homes, but the walls, floors, and roof are constructed in panels in a factory and then shipped to the site for assembly. This method allows for high-quality materials and precise construction.

Timber frame homes: Timber frame homes are built using large wooden beams and posts that are connected with mortise and tenon joints. They are sturdy and durable, and the wooden construction provides excellent insulation.

SIPs homes: SIPs (Structural Insulated Panels) homes are constructed with panels made from a layer of foam insulation sandwiched between two layers of OSB (Oriented Strand Board) or plywood. They are highly energy-efficient and have a long lifespan. CS SIPs reduce construction site waste and material theft. However, to be environmentally aware, one would seek even better solutions. There are Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) available in the market that do not use polyurethane foam or toxic glues. These alternative SIPs are made using more environmentally friendly materials such as:

Rigid Polystyrene Foam (EPS) SIPs: EPS foam is a lightweight and cost-effective insulation material that can be used in SIPs. EPS foam is non-toxic and does not contain formaldehyde or other harmful chemicals.

Mineral Wool SIPs: Mineral wool is a type of insulation made from natural minerals such as rock or slag. Mineral wool SIPs are non-combustible, provide excellent insulation, and do not contain
harmful chemicals.

Cork SIPs: Cork is a natural material that is renewable, biodegradable, and has excellent insulation properties. Cork SIPs are lightweight, durable, and have a low carbon footprint.

Straw Bale SIPs: Straw bale construction involves stacking bales of straw to create walls, which are then covered with natural plaster. Straw bale SIPs are a modern take on this traditional building method and offer excellent insulation and natural, non-toxic building material.
It's important to note that these alternative SIPs may have different performance characteristics
compared to traditional polyurethane foam SIPs. It's important to work with a qualified builder or
architect to determine which type of SIPs are best for your project based on your climate, budget, and sustainability goals.

When planning a prefab home that will last, it's important to work with an experienced architect or builder who can help you choose the best materials and construction methods. They can also help you design a home that meets your needs and fits your budget while still providing the high-quality construction you desire.

At Elegant Living we research and combine all practices to offer the quality we would use ourselves, for our own homes. We offer panelized homes, made of CLT, using stone wool thermal insulation, best and pure materials, and best practices.
